Time for change 20106/17/2023 49 per cent of people with mental health problems had been harassed or attacked.Yet mental health charities Mind and Rethink were shocked by statistics that attested to the extent of the stigma and discrimination those one in four face: It is commonly reported that one in four of us will experience mental health problems at some point. However, people with mental health problems consistently identify discrimination as one of their biggest issues and almost 9 out of 10 people affected by mental health problems have experienced discrimination. We are moving closer to a society where recovering a full and meaningful life from mental health problems is the norm rather than the exception. Over the last decade there have been huge advances in our understanding and treatment of mental health problems and increased investment in services.
